don’t make music to make money, make money because of it…

A Monumental Moment In Drum and Bass History

Today not only did I purchase my first vinyl in over 5 years but I found myself purchasing something I never thought I’d buy again. Knowledge Magazine. Seriously, who reads a fucking magazine anymore right? There’s millions of them at our fingertips. That said, I ride the subway an hour each way to work. I need to read something interesting and fuck knows the gossip column at the back of the “Metro” is good for about 20 seconds and little bit of vomit in the mouth. However to be honest the magazine wasn’t what really interested me. No, what interested me was the tracklisting you’ll find below. This month Matrix & Futurebound mixed a collection of Metro and Viper Recordings (their labels respectively) tracks for the cover CD. Having purchased a number of tunes on the Viper Label recently (Metrik-Movin On/Stranger & L Plus-Middle Eastern Sun) I figured what the hell. Found a download link over at dnbshare but you should go buy the mag still. Haven’t read it yet, but looks like there’s some great articles.

(Update* This mix is amazing…fuck)

Just finished listening to this mix myself. It is a decent mix but every time I hear new stuff from Matrix I can’t help but yearn for his older sound. Early Metro, his collaborations with Dom and of course Sleepwalk. This more uplifting (house influenced maybe?) sound he has been pushing for a few years now is good no doubt, I just wish he would express that subtle, darker, moodier sound once in awhile.
